Orlando Hernandez, MD

Born in Havana Cuba, and since a young age, Dr. Hernandez dreamed of becoming a physician, inspired by his next-door neighbor, who was a retired well-known physician. He went to Havana’s medical school finishing his doctor degree in 1985 at 24 years of age. Dr. Hernandez was selected to go straight to his internal medicine residency which he completed in 1989 with honors. In 1990 Dr. Hernandez was selected for an intensive care fellowship program that he also completed a year later in 1991. He was an intensive care attending until he left Cuba. Dr. Hernandez emigrated to the Dominican Republic in September of 1993, obtaining the physician license that allowed him to practice medicine until he then emigrated to USA in 1994. While passing his medical boards, he was a house physician at the Hialeah Hospital in Miami Florida where he was nominated the house physician of the year in 1996 and 1997.

Dr. Hernandez was accepted for his second internal medicine residency training at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati which I completed in 2001. I was nominated the intern of the year in 1998 and the resident of the year in 1999 while training at Jewish Hospital. Dr. Hernandez has practiced medicine since 2001, focusing on geriatric medicine. He has served as the medical director in several facilities within Cincinnati and has a passionate advocate for our geriatric patients over the last 23 years.
